If you’re a baseball fan, October means more than autumn leaves and pumpkin spice. It’s the start of the Major League Baseball (MLB) postseason! With the regular season coming to an end, fans all around the world are preparing to watch their favorite teams go head to head for the 120th World Series.

MLB Playoff Schedule

The MLB postseason will begin with the Wild Card Series on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, and run through the month, ending with Game 7 of the World Series tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2024, if needed. As scheduled, fans can look forward to multiple MLB playoff games for both the American and National Leagues (AL and NL) virtually every day during the month of October:

Wild Card Series

  • Games 1 & 2: October 1-2
  • Game 3: October 3 (if needed)

The Division Series

  • Games 1-3: October 5-9
  • Games 4 & 5: October 9-12 (if needed)

The League Championship Series

  • Games 1-4: October 13-18

  • Games 1-4: October 25-29
  • Games 5-7: October 30-November 2 (if needed)

The Wild Card Series

The Wild Card games are a best-of-three series. The postseason starts with eight teams: seeds 3-6 for both the AL and NL. Seeds 1 and 2 for each league skip the Wild Card Series and advance directly to the Division Series.

The World Series

Beginning October 25, the top American League team will face off with the top National League team in a best of seven series for the Commissioner’s Trophy. 

If both of the League Championship Series conclude by Saturday, October 19, the World Series may be moved up to commence on Tuesday, October 22, with a possible Game 7 on Wednesday, October 30.
