Fishing is a massively popular global sport. Why? It's all about tactics, having specialist knowledge and being able to translate that into a catch. However, a big part of the thrill is to be cut off from the daily grind, being out there in the natural world, battling your wits against your prey. This series really captures that experience. Each episode will be a new challenge: a fresh location in which presenter Thom Hunt is challenged by an online follower to seek different species of fish in a set time limit. Naturally the challenges won't be easy - he'll go to a beautiful spot in the middle of winter or hunt for European fish when no-one can catch. There is a strong sense of purpose about the series. Each of the three locations in each episode will be hard to access, and none of the fishing species will be easy to land. This series feels set apart from the traditional 'find and catch' fishing show which are based purely catching and landing a fish. It's all about Thom's passion and drive to catch against all odds. Thom is allowed a limited amount of help. Each week he meets a local expert who knows the territory and also the fish they might find. They plan out at least two days and one night (all on camera) to catch the best fish they can, see the best sights, and whether it'll be on land, or sea. Thom and his fishing buddy use their skill to bag a fish but there are also times when they'll need to build a camp, or find other ways to shelter such as in caves or stone buildings. This will provide a base from which they can plan each day, eat and talk, plus look back on their success every night. Thom loves foraging and will try and grab food from his environment if he can. Destinations will feature seas, lakes, rivers and quarries. Fishing isn't an exact science and there's no guarantee of a 'catch'. Thom has everything to play for!
